The Skybox Transitional Program at Montgomery High School provides a beneficial learning environment for special education students in our township. These students do not always have the same opportunities in STEM as other students do. In order to change this, Team 1403 reached out to the director of the Skybox program, Mrs. Lisa Fioretti, and organized several meetings with her. Through these meetings, the team developed a specific curriculum tailored for Skybox students by using Raspberry Pi to learn basic Python, playing Scratch games, and learning object oriented Java. Overall, students were motivated to learn as their interest for computer science was able to grow and develop into understanding languages such as Python. We hope that they had fun during the Skybox sessions and that they will pursue their passion in computer science.
